Features

Some of Delta is optional. Features are switched on per site, on the Features screen. Go to Delta → Site in wp-admin and open the Features tab.

The three features

FeatureDoesState
MemoryKeeps a work log for the agent: decisions, rejected options, and open itemsExperimental, on by default
Coming SoonHolds the public site behind a page you designStable, off by default
Soft NavigationSwaps page content without a full reloadUnstable, off by default

Memory is enabled on a new site. The other two are off until you enable them.

The Front panel and the Sketchbook are part of Delta, not features. They need no switch. The UI Editor was removed in 0.3.0; see The editors.

Maturity

Each feature carries one of three labels.

Stable is finished. Unstable works, and its behaviour can change between releases. Experimental is early work, and can change more than an unstable feature. Memory is experimental.

Enabled and active

A feature has two states. Enabled means the switch is on. Active means it is enabled and everything it needs is in place.

Coming Soon can be enabled and still inactive, because it also needs a published page to show. While it is inactive, the public site is not gated. The agent reports the reason a feature is inactive.

Soft Navigation

A click on a link swaps only the page content, so the header and footer stay in place. Pages with a contact form load in full, so the form’s own scripts run.

Coming Soon

The gate serves your chosen page with an HTTP 503. Search engines read that as temporarily unavailable and return later, so no placeholder is indexed. The page is marked no-index, and the response is not cached.

Login and wp-admin stay open. The bypass needs permission to edit theme options, so an administrator sees the real site and an editor sees the gate. While the gate is on, WooCommerce’s store data is closed to visitors as well, so a shop cannot be read through it.

A static export gets the gate too. While Coming Soon is on, the agent cannot start a Simply Static export, and one started from Simply Static’s own screen holds none of the site’s pages. The setting Let static exports through lets the export see the real pages. It is off by default, and delivering such an export publishes the site, so when the agent asks to switch it on, the request waits for your approval. See Approvals.

For developers

Maturity values are stable, unstable and experimental. An enabled but inactive feature reports an inactiveReason: feature_off, or missing_published_page for Coming Soon. The bypass capability is edit_theme_options, and the 503 carries Retry-After: 3600. The export setting is coming_soon_allow_crawlers; the filter 21press_delta_coming_soon_request_allowed lets other requests through the gate.
