You have connected an agent. Run your first session on a staging or test site, so you learn how the agent works before you use it on a client site.
A new site starts empty
Delta ships no templates. Until the agent builds them, every page shows a plain layout: the site name at the top, the content, and a copyright line at the bottom.
1 · Run the onboarding skill
“Run the onboarding skill and help me set up the site for {business}, a {what it does} in {city}.”
The agent asks one question at a time and skips what is already in place. It covers:
- the site name, tagline, logo and browser icon
- the design system: Delta’s default, your own CSS or design files, or Automatic.css when it is installed
- the pages: when you have no sitemap, it suggests Home, About, Blog and Contact
- the menus and the templates: header, footer, single, archive, search and 404
The agent asks before it installs a plugin or replaces your work. You can stop at any step: the agent saves its progress in Memory and continues from there in the next session.
To look around before you set anything up, ask to play first: “Run the onboarding skill. I want to play around first.” The agent tries ideas in the Sketchbook, and the site does not change.
2 · See your design system on a board
Click Delta → Sketchbook in the admin bar, then ask:
“Make a new Sketchbook board called Style guide. Show the site’s colours, typography, spacing, buttons and cards.”
The board uses the site’s own styles, so it shows the design system as it is now. It is not a page on the site, so visitors never see it. To show it to a client, use Share link in the board menu. The Sketchbook opens in the Front panel, which only administrators can open.
3 · Continue with small requests
- “Add an FAQ section with five questions about {your service}.”
- “Add a call-to-action band above the footer with a button to the contact page.”
- “In the Sketchbook, try a darker hero for the home page.”
- “Now make sure everything looks right on a phone.”
Add images as you go
If the agent also has an image-generation tool connected over MCP (Magnific, for example), you can include image generation in the same request: “Generate a hero image of a sunlit workshop and place it in the hero section.” The agent generates the image, uploads it to the Media Library, and places it in the layout.
A practical setup: chat beside the site
Work in a split view: the chat on one side, the live site on the other. Agents that drive a browser, such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor’s design mode, let you point at an element on the page and describe the change directly.
How the design stays consistent
Everything the agent builds uses the design system’s tokens through semantic classes. Colours come from the design system, not from values typed into a page. To try a new look, ask the agent to draw it on a board. Then click Update website styles to put it on the site: Delta saves a snapshot first. More in the design system docs.
